Sister of Yehuda Katz: "Our Yehudaleh is the mirror of us all"
The sister of an IDF fallen soldier whose body was returned home this week works at the Central Elections Committee. The committee chairman, Judge Noam Sohlberg, sent her a letter of condolence, calling the move a supreme moral duty. In response, the sister shared her feelings and spoke about the spirit of the people reflected in her brother.
The chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Judge Noam Sohlberg, sent a letter of condolence this week to Parhia Hayman-Katz, the sister of fallen IDF soldier Yehuda Katz, whose body was returned to Israel. In his letter, Sohlberg emphasized the duty to return the soldiers, and the sister responded with gratitude for the support her family is receiving.
Judge Sohlberg and the committee's acting director-general, Dean Livne, sent the letter following the news of the return of the body of Katz, who fell in the battle of Sultan Yacoub 44 years ago. They wrote that his return for burial in Israel constitutes a national and family closure.
According to Sohlberg, the state relies on the duty to return all soldiers. He explained that the redemption of captives is a distinct characteristic of the heritage, and he signed his letter with the words: "And may he return home again, we do not need more than that."
Hayman-Katz, who works in the human resources department at the committee, thanked the employees for their support. She shared that the judge's words reflect the spirit of the people that was expressed in her brother and added: "Our Yehudaleh is the mirror of us all." She concluded her remarks with the New Year's greeting that her brother used to use: "May He who suspends the earth on nothing grant you a good inscription."
