Barcelona star following the tribute to Trump: "I don't understand politics"

Ferran Torres, star of Barcelona and the Spanish national team, sparked great interest when he celebrated his team's World Cup victory wearing a red cap with the inscription "Make Spain Great Again". Torres, who scored the winning goal in the final, clarified that his choice did not stem from political motives, but from a desire to see Spain at its peak.

In an interview he gave in recent days to CNN, Torres said: "It was a funny moment." He emphasized:

"It had nothing to do with politics, because honestly, I don't understand politics. It was just to see Spain at the top, winning the World Cup. It was just to enjoy with my friends, with my family, and nothing is related to politics."

The cap that Torres wore did not go unnoticed by the President of the USA, Donald Trump, who referred to it positively. Trump told reporters that Torres is a "great player" and that "he basically wore a 'Make America Great Again' cap", and that it was a "nice gesture" that is highly appreciated.

The White House even joked that "everyone wants to join the MAGA movement" after scenes from the celebrations in Madrid went viral. Torres was seen wearing the cap on an open-top bus and later on the main celebration stage, while Spanish fans celebrated their team's victory over Lionel Messi's Argentina.
