Stephen Curry addressed for the first time this Monday LeBron James' decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, admitting that the Golden State Warriors had hoped to see the NBA's leading scorer join the team. However, he clarified that he did not count on the move before it became official.

"That's exactly why you don't imagine anything until it actually happens," Curry said during Moses Moody's basketball camp. "There are a lot of variables."

According to "The Athletic," Curry believed the Warriors had a real chance to acquire James, but after he chose Philadelphia, he turned his attention to his team's situation. According to him, the injuries to Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody are what changed the plans for the upcoming season more than anything else.

"The main thing, and it's hard for anyone in this position, especially when we're trying to keep this team together, is that once Jimmy got hurt and Moses also got hurt, all the calculations change," Curry said. "How do you deal with their absence and still remain at a certain level? It affects this season as well. I look at things realistically."

Curry added that the Golden State management examined various options to strengthen the roster and build the best possible team around him, but emphasized that the injuries limited the room for maneuver. "Of course I hoped for all kinds of creative ideas to assemble the best team possible. We had those conversations, but when leading players get injured, it always changes the picture."
