Police arrested a suspect for stealing phones from bathers in Tel Aviv

A foreign national from Eritrea was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of stealing mobile phones from bathers at the HaTzuk beach in Tel Aviv. During proactive operational activity, Tel Aviv District police officers noticed a suspicious individual in the beach area riding a bicycle without a protective helmet and ordered him to stop for an inspection.
During the check, officers noticed that the suspect's pockets were full of mobile phones suspected of being stolen from people at the beach. Five mobile phones were seized from the suspect and later returned to their owners. He was transferred to the police for further investigation.
This case joins other theft and robbery incidents recorded in Tel Aviv. Recently, two suspects were arrested in the city in separate cases after allegedly attacking and robbing residents in public spaces, including an incident involving a person in his 70s whose mobile phone was stolen at the Ramat Aviv Mall.
In another case that occurred last month, a female suspect was arrested for breaking into an assisted living facility in Kiryat Gat, where she allegedly stole mobile phones, cash, and other property from residents, including Holocaust survivors.
