Has the bitter end arrived? Body located during search for Eldar Dayan
As part of the search for missing person Eldar Dayan, police, Border Police officers, and volunteers found a body in an advanced state of decomposition in an open area. Identification is currently pending.
Large police forces arrived this morning, Thursday, at the Yarkon interchange area in Petah Tikva following the discovery of a body in an advanced state of decomposition in an open area. At this stage, identification has not been completed. The body was located during searches conducted since the early hours by hundreds of police officers from the Sharon District for traces of the missing person, Eldar Dayan. There are no further findings at this point. The body will be transferred to the National Center of Forensic Medicine to complete the identification process and clarify the circumstances of death.
As recalled, Dayan, 23, from Dimona, has been missing since July 17. According to the version currently under investigation, Dayan and two of his friends arrived at the Yarkon Park area in Tel Aviv and were involved in a brawl with several Eritreans. After the incident, the three fled the scene in their vehicle and later arrived in Petah Tikva, where they abandoned the car and parted ways. He was last seen in the area of the gas station in Yarkonim. His two friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, have been arrested.
Yesterday, following a situational assessment held by the Central District Commander, Commissioner Amir Cohen, and after the Dimona station reported that it had exhausted all search activities, the District Commander instructed that the missing person's file be transferred to the responsibility of the Central District. The goal is to concentrate all investigative efforts under one authority. This morning, extensive searches began with the participation of Petah Tikva station police officers, Border Police officers, and volunteers.
