Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered this week to Brigadier General (res.) Chico Tamir to receive a reserved spot on the Likud list in the upcoming elections, as reported for the first time this evening in the Friday edition.
These developments come against the backdrop of the defeat of former Shin Bet head Avi Dichter in the primaries, and following the departure of former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant from the party and the severe shortage of security experts.
Moshe (Chico) Tamir, 62, reached the rank of Brigadier General in the IDF and served as commander of the Golani Brigade and commander of the Gaza Division.
This week it was published that Netanyahu and the chairman of the Religious Zionism party intend to increase pressure on the chairman of "Amach Yisrael", Ofer Winter, to unite as well so as not to risk votes in the coalition bloc.
At the base of the offer to Winter: 2nd place with Bezalel Smotrich and more reserved spots in the top ten, and in addition two reserved spots in Likud - for Yoseph Haddad and for the candidate who came with him to Winter, Fleur Hassan-Nahoum. Winter clarified this evening once again that "he does not intend to unite with incumbent politicians."
