The fear in Lebanon ahead of the talks: "Hezbollah could create problems"

Talks between Israel and Lebanon are expected to resume in Rome tomorrow. However, senior sources in Lebanon told the newspaper "Voice of Beirut International" today, Monday, that the only remaining fear is that "Hezbollah could create problems, although this is now considered unlikely following the Israeli strikes that weakened its capabilities."

The sources further stated that "important developments" are expected regarding the Iranian issue:

"Either Iran will respond to real negotiations, or it will face a major military operation that will weaken it and its influence even further, even if it turns to igniting conflicts throughout the region. However, any change will be temporary and things will eventually return to the existing course in the region until the goals of the change are achieved."

In addition, senior officials said that during the talks, the parties will discuss stabilizing the ceasefire, the situation on the ground, and the destruction of homes and cities by the Israeli side. Lebanon will raise the need to stop Israeli actions and begin preparations for other pilot zones, including their location and start date.

Regarding the pilot zones, the officials said that "this is also an American and Israeli demand following the success of this experiment, even according to the Americans themselves." Lebanon also wants to expand these zones to include all occupied territories. A positive atmosphere is expected, in light of the positive results on the ground and the satisfaction of the residents of these villages with the steps being taken.

Against this backdrop, over the weekend, an officer from the Egoz unit was moderately wounded in an encounter with a Hezbollah terrorist on the Ali-Tahar ridge in southern Lebanon. The IDF Spokesperson stated that the terrorist was eliminated, and the soldier was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. About a week ago, the IDF announced that Hezbollah had launched an explosive drone towards an engineering vehicle of the forces in the Ali-Tahar ridge area. According to the army, "this is a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon by Hezbollah." It was further stated that the forces continue to operate in the ridge area and will not allow terrorists to promote and carry out terror plots.
