The contestant who turned the chairs on "The Voice" reveals: "Everyone gathered around me"
The current season of the music show opened with a real surprise with successful auditions that revealed to the world the musicians of the future in Israel. One of them is Yuli Goldschmidt, who managed to turn two of the judges.
Seven years after the curtain fell on its fifth season, "The Voice" returned to the screens of Reshet 13 with a top-tier judging panel: Idan Raichel, Noa Kirel, Eden Ben Zaken, and Static. Already in the premiere episode, we were introduced to unique voices that could secure their place in the Israeli music scene.
This week, 23-year-old Yuli Goldschmidt performed. After a mesmerizing set, Noa Kirel and Eden Ben Zaken turned their chairs, and Goldschmidt chose Noa as her mentor. The young singer appeared this Friday on the program "The World This Morning" on Reshet 13, where she discussed the audition and her ambition to succeed in the music world.
"I treated the audition like a performance. I came to the program to gain experience, to learn, and to promote my music," she said.
According to Goldschmidt, music is a family legacy, as her mother was a singer herself. "There was always music at home. I played the clarinet for a decade, attended an arts school in Haifa, and completed 10 units in music," she explained, describing her musical background.
Although she grew up in a musical home, a major turning point came during her post-army travels. "I had a dream to fly to the East and buy a guitar—that's exactly what I did after landing. In Cambodia, taxi drivers gathered around me; I sang and played for them, and eventually, we even sang songs in their language," she recalled.
Goldschmidt writes songs that reflect her life experiences: "I write about life—love, heartbreak, my own experiences, and those of my friends. It is my outlet. Writing songs is my way of processing life."
As a reminder, one of the season's breakout stars is 22-year-old Renana Hovav, whose unforgettable audition performance of "Let's Take a Day" by the legendary Shlomo Artzi became a sensation. According to data from Reshet 13, her performance garnered nearly half a million views in just two weeks.
