Kyra Kennedy, granddaughter of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy, passed away last month at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts, at the age of 42. Media outlets reported the news on Tuesday, while the official cause of death remains pending as authorities continue their investigation.

Born to Michael Kennedy—who died in a ski accident in 1997—Kyra was one of the 34 grandchildren of Bobby and Ethel Kennedy. She studied at Georgetown and Harvard, worked in education, and famously broke her father's Boston Marathon record in 2019. In 2020, she suffered a severe spinal injury that left her paralyzed. She is survived by two sons, Conor and Declan, while her infant daughter Josie passed away shortly after birth.

This marks the second tragedy to strike the Kennedy dynasty in less than a year, following the passing of Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, who died of leukemia at 35 in December 2025. Her grandfather Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles in 1968, and her uncle is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the current U.S. Health Secretary.
