Russian Ballistic Missile Strike on Kyiv Leaves Two Dead and Power Cut
A Russian ballistic missile strike on Kyiv killed two people and left 600,000 without power, prompting President Volodymyr Zelensky to urge fresh U.S. sanctions.
A massive Russian ballistic missile and drone attack struck a thermal power plant in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv overnight, leaving two people dead, four seriously injured, and 600,000 residents without electricity.
Kyiv Energy Infrastructure Hit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported via social media that Moscow launched 39 ballistic missiles and over 120 drones targeting critical energy infrastructure in Kyiv and Kharkiv. The strike hit a key thermal power facility without prior warning, damaging a residential building where rescue teams responded to fires.
The facts show that the Russians do not consider themselves bound by what the President of the United States said. Ukraine supported an energy ceasefire. Russia is targeting yet another power plant and the lives of our people.
Appeal to the United States
Zelensky called on U.S. President Donald Trump to impose severe sanctions on Russia and urgently supply additional Patriot anti-ballistic missile systems, stating that Washington possesses all necessary tools to enforce peace through strength and pressure.
