Kvish Yisrael Employees Unionize Under Histadrut for Job Security
Around 120 employees of the state-owned company Kvish Yisrael unionized under the Histadrut to secure better working conditions and a first collective agreement.
Around 120 employees of the state-owned company "Kvish Yisrael" (Cross-Israel Highway) unionized yesterday (Wednesday) under the Histadrut. The move aims to regulate their working conditions and ensure job security. The Histadrut sent an official letter to the company's management requesting the initiation of negotiations toward signing a first collective bargaining agreement for the workers.
"Kvish Yisrael" is a government-owned company responsible for the construction of Highway 6 and other transportation and infrastructure projects, operating under the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety. The company advances about 70 nationwide projects, including paving public and shared transport lanes, establishing regional transportation hubs, and bicycle paths, as well as managing toll roads.
Amichai Stinger, CEO of the Histadrut's Trade Union Division, stated: "We welcome the employees of 'Kvish Yisrael' to the home of workers in Israel. It is time for the employees who advance the country's infrastructure development to enjoy a solid foundation of job security themselves. We call on management to sit down with us at the negotiating table."
Moshe Yanai, chairman of the action committee, added: "We feel excitement and pride with the completion of the unionization process. 'Kvish Yisrael' employees have expressed full confidence in the need to establish a workers' committee under the Histadrut to look after employee welfare and working conditions."
