Freed Hostages Keith and Aviva Siegel Welcome Their First Grandchild

Keith and Aviva Siegel, survivors of Hamas captivity, have become grandparents for the first time following the birth of their first granddaughter. Shir Bar-On, daughter of the couple who were abducted from their home in Kfar Aza on October 7, gave birth yesterday, sharing emotional photographs from the hospital showing her parents holding their newborn grandchild.

Alongside the images, Shir wrote, "Now tell me there is no hope in the world." The emotional birth took place on election day while votes were still being tallied at polling stations. Hours earlier, Shir shared a picture from the voting booth, stating that despite pain and difficulty walking, she insisted on exercising her democratic right.

A Message of Unity and Hope

In an additional post from the delivery room, Shir reflected on a conversation with a fellow captive survivor, emphasizing the importance of unity following a tense election cycle. She urged the public to remember that citizens are not at war with one another and must remain a unified family, drawing strength from the resilience demonstrated since October 7.

Keith and Aviva Siegel were kidnapped from Kfar Aza during the October 7, 2023 terror attacks orchestrated by Hamas. While Aviva was released after 51 days in captivity, Keith remained in the Gaza Strip for 484 days under severe conditions before his eventual return. Throughout their ordeal, Shir led a prominent public campaign advocating for the release of hostages.

Following Keith's return, Shir and Yuval celebrated their wedding, which had been postponed due to the outbreak of the war. The arrival of their firstborn daughter marks a poignant new chapter for the family, transforming dark memories of captivity into a profound moment of renewal and joy.
