Career breakthrough moments for media personalities often arrive at the least expected times, and in the case of Kevin Rubin, it happened just as he stepped out of the shower. In a podcast alongside Liron Weizman and Nelly Tagar, the social media star and host shared the stages that led to one of the most coveted roles on Israeli television: replacing Guy Zu-Aretz as host of 'Big Brother' while Zu-Aretz was filming 'Survivor'.

The offer, it turns out, came as a surprise in a short phone call.

"I step out of the shower, go to the room, and get a phone call: 'Hi Kevin, we just came out of a meeting, I don't have much time, I'll send you dates, you are replacing Guy Zu-Aretz while he is on 'Survivor', come on, I'm going into a meeting, bye'," Rubin recounted the dramatic conversation that shuffled the deck.

His initial reaction was directed immediately to his partner, Daniela (Dani) Kristia: "I remain in shock. I send her a voice message: 'Oh my God! Dani, you were pregnant, Dani don't give birth! Dani don't give birth, I'm going to host 'Big Brother'!'"

The exciting news moved very quickly to the close family circle, where it was accompanied by tears of pride. Rubin shared about the phone call with his mother and her reaction:

"So I called Mom to tell her this, and then she cried. 'Mom, why are you crying?' 'I'm crying because you found what you love to do and you are good at it.' And she told me: 'You always told me you would succeed when you were little, and here you are succeeding.'"

Rubin's integration into the prime time of Reshet 13 marks a milestone in a career that began with independent content creation for social networks. The transition from a leading influencer to a host of complex live events like 'Big Brother' highlights the change in the entertainment world, where talent and connection to the audience manage to overcome even early obstacles.
