Karin Kabesa, the northern correspondent for Channel 13, is departing the network after a two-year tenure to join the newly launched Channel 16. Kabesa will continue her journalistic work covering northern Israel for the competing broadcaster. She originally joined Channel 13 in November 2024, succeeding Noam Barkan, and covered a wide range of security, criminal, and civilian events in Haifa, the Krayot, and the Galilee during a particularly complex security period.

Before entering television news, Kabesa built an extensive career in radio, including broadcasting at Radio Haifa where she co-hosted a morning show alongside Daniel Tzioni. In 2021, the program received an award at the annual journalism conference of the Tel Aviv Journalists Association. In addition to her media background, Kabesa served as the spokeswoman for the Hapoel Hadera football club when the team played in the Premier League.

In 2017, Kabesa achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first female stadium announcer in Israeli football, taking the microphone at Sammy Ofer Stadium during a match between Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv. Her departure coincides with Channel 16's ongoing expansion, having recently recruited prominent journalists such as Alexandra Lukash and Rotem Golan as the new channel builds its news division under veteran anchor Yaakov Eilon.
