Kanichowsky and Ferencvaros advanced, Salah awaits in the Europa League playoffs

Parallel to the Israeli teams' matches, Ajax secured its place in the playoff round of the Conference League qualifiers despite a rather embarrassing 2:2 draw this evening (Thursday) in Ireland against Shelbourne. Oscar Gloukh did not find the net in the first leg and failed to score in the opening round of the Dutch league, but this time he was not in the lineup as part of rotation and was given a rest. German Julian Brandt celebrated a debut goal (20) and Anton Gaaei scored the second (39), but Shelbourne knew how to respond in both cases and even almost won. The Dutch side advanced thanks to the 3:1 win in the first leg.

Gloukh already has four goals in the qualifiers (one against Vojvodina away and a hat-trick at home) and he will try to improve his tally next week, when Ajax meets Swiss side Sion in the playoffs (advanced after 1:2 against Armenian side Noah and 4:3 on aggregate).

• Gabi Kanichowsky started for Ferencvaros and played 59 minutes in the 1:1 draw in Poland against Gornik Zabrze. The Hungarian runners-up equalized thanks to an own goal in the 82nd minute and thus maintained the 1:0 lead from the first leg. They will meet Trabzonspor and Mohamed Salah in the Europa League playoff round.

• Twente, without the injured Stav Lemkin who remained in the Netherlands, finished 3:3 away at Slovakian side DAC 1904 after thrashing them 6:0 in the first leg. Marko Pjaca scored a brace and prevented a loss with an equalizer in stoppage time.
