Jerusalem Approves 30-Story 'Agron Tower'
The District Committee rejected objections and approved the Inbal company's plan for a mixed-use project to replace 'Beit Amir'. Located on the light rail line, the tower will feature 110 apartments, 114 hotel rooms, and commercial and public spaces.
The Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee has approved the 'Agron Tower' plan by the Inbal company, located at the corner of Agron and King George streets, following the rejection of objections filed against the project.
The complex, adjacent to Paris Square and Independence Park, is designed to integrate residential, hotel, commercial, and public uses, aligning with urban planning policies for densification along light rail lines. The 30-story tower will replace 'Beit Amir', a 1960s structure designed by architect David Reznik.
The new development will include 110 housing units, 114 hotel rooms, two floors of commercial space, and a floor designated for public use. The tower was designed by New York-based architect Ian Bader, in collaboration with architects Anat Ayalon and Baruch Reznik, the son of the original building's designer.
The District Committee noted that the plan provides for development at a central junction along the light rail line and serves as a key component in the ongoing development of Jerusalem's city center. The committee emphasized that the mixed-use nature of the complex is intended to boost local economic activity.
"We believe that the project, which will be promoted in cooperation with the Jerusalem Municipality, will contribute to the renewal of the city center and the creation of a complex that combines residential, hotel, commercial, and public uses in the heart of the capital," stated Effi Katz, CEO of the Inbal company.
