"I know you!": The marriage proposal that took an unexpected turn

Noa Lee Sheken-Tov could not believe her eyes when she discovered that the photographer who documented her marriage proposal was none other than pro-Israel activist Nate Buzolic. A video she shared on Sunday on TikTok, which quickly garnered tens of thousands of views, captured these moving moments — and many could not help but wonder how he came to be there.

In a special interview with C14, Sheken-Tov said that everything happened completely by chance:

"I saw Nate in the distance out of the corner of my eye with a camera, I heard the song, and he started filming us. I didn't know how to process the situation, I was really excited. In the middle of the proposal, I told him: 'Oh my god, I know you!'"

The young couple, who have been in a relationship for five years, arrived for a getaway. According to Sheken-Tov, her partner told her they were "going for the weekend in the south." The fact that she especially loves to be photographed at sunset provided the perfect cover story: "He told me we would go to take pictures, and went to look for a spot. A lot of time passed and he didn't come back." Moments after the moving proposal, she demanded he explain how things unfolded.

"He told me that Nate was staying in a complex about a kilometer and a half away from us. A few minutes before the proposal, my partner told him he hadn't managed to find a photographer and asked for his help," she said. According to her, Buzolic agreed happily, ran to his room to bring all the necessary equipment, and even helped arrange the spot. "His girlfriend handled our social media. They were the sweetest people ever," she added.

Sheken-Tov noted that afterwards, the activist and his girlfriend invited them to dinner. "We talked about October 7th; we are both residents of Ashkelon and experienced it firsthand. He showed us what he has done for Israel," she said. Buzolic even uploaded the moving footage to his personal Instagram account. "On Sunday he wrote me congratulations, that he is excited, and also edited the video for us and asked if I wanted to change anything. Better than any professional photographer."
