Jackie Azulay on the secret she kept from her ex-husband: "For months I didn't tell him"
The beloved "MasterChef" contestant did not hesitate to share a case where she managed to keep a secret from her ex-husband for nine months. Azulay was required to surprise with a twist in the dish, and took the opportunity to share the time she surprised her ex: "I even talked to him about the Brit Milah"
Jackie Azulay is back in the "MasterChef" kitchen. This past Sunday, she faced a particularly difficult challenge: a dumpling dish inspired by chef Yuval Ben Neriah, with the requirement to "surprise us" (new episode airing Tuesday on Channel 12).
Azulay took the challenge to heart and returned with a dish representing a fusion of East and West. She served the judges dumplings filled with a nut mixture on an amaretto creme anglaise, garnering praise from the panel, including Yuval Ben Neriah, who noted:
"The brain expects salty and then gets this. There is a short circuit. This sauce is light and airy and it is a great success."
She received 36 points for the dish, but during the tasting stage, she insisted on maintaining the tension and the element of surprise, revealing a story from the past where she hid a secret from her ex-partner and the father of her children.
"You asked for a surprise, and when I make surprises for people, they don't have a clue. I worked on my ex until the delivery room that we were having a boy, and this was after three boys. A girl was born, and he didn't believe it, she said with a smile. I talked to him about a Brit Milah; for nine months I kept such a surprise."
Michal Ansky summarized it simply: "I have never met such a woman in my life."
In an interview with the mako weekend magazine last week, Azulay shared that her four children—Ori, Itay, Ilai, and Elinor—are in religious education. When asked if her ex, Israel, sees eye-to-eye with her on the matter of the children's education, she replied: "We don't talk about it. The children are mostly with me, so he only enjoys the fruits."
