Israeli airlines and international carriers are already preparing for 2027, announcing new direct routes to the Far East, Europe, and the Americas, alongside a significant expansion of regional flights from Haifa Airport. As travelers begin planning their upcoming vacations, Ben Gurion International Airport is set to introduce several highly anticipated destinations starting late 2026 and throughout 2027.
Expanding Horizons in the Far East
New direct flights are eliminating the need for exhausting layovers, bringing exotic beach paradises and fascinating cultures within easy reach. El Al Israel Airlines is launching three weekly direct flights to Seoul, South Korea, starting March 27, 2027, offering business travelers and tourists seamless access to a vibrant metropolis combining futuristic skyscrapers and ancient palaces. Meanwhile, Arkia Israeli Airlines is establishing a historic direct connection to Manila, Philippines, launching weekly Sunday flights on January 3, 2027, with El Al also announcing future plans to serve the archipelago.
European Capitals and Balkan Adventures
European route networks for 2027 feature culinary hotspots and emerging nature destinations. Israir Airlines is introducing flights to Bologna, Italy, the renowned culinary capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, for the spring-summer 2027 season. Arkia is launching service to Tallinn, Estonia, in March 2027, offering travelers a remarkably preserved medieval old town combined with modern digital innovation. In Greece, Israir will join Arkia in serving Preveza, opening up the golden beaches of Lefkada and the wilderness of Epirus. The Balkans are also emerging as a major tourism trend, with both Arkia and Israir operating direct flights to Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Israir adding Split, Croatia. Furthermore, in an exciting milestone for Arctic tourism, Arkia will launch regular direct flights to Reykjavik, Iceland, beginning in June 2027.
Reconnecting the Americas
Transatlantic travel is receiving a major boost with the renewal and expansion of long-haul routes. United Airlines is scheduled to resume three weekly direct flights to San Francisco starting March 28, 2027, running alongside El Al's operations to the Silicon Valley hub. Additionally, El Al is launching its longest route to date, connecting passengers directly to Buenos Aires, Argentina, starting November 29, 2026, opening up South America for Israeli travelers.
Regional Growth from Haifa
Air Haifa is continuing its rapid expansion, projecting up to a 50 percent growth in operations for 2027. The airline plans to increase frequencies to Larnaca, Cyprus, offering flights nearly every hour and a half during peak periods, alongside expanded service to Paphos. Following the launch of its new direct route to Thessaloniki, Greece, the carrier is also expanding domestic connections with flights linking Ben Gurion Airport and Ramon Airport near Eilat, complementing its existing operations from Haifa.
