Israel Warns of Potential Palestinian Authority Gun Reversal Threat in West Bank
Dr. Edy Cohen and Defense Minister Israel Katz warn of a potential Palestinian Authority gun reversal threat, as the IDF prepares for a comprehensive West Bank campaign.

Dr. Edy Cohen warned on Tuesday during an interview with Tal Meir about the scenario of a 'gun reversal' by the Palestinian Authority mechanisms, asserting it is a threat that must not be taken lightly. 'It is not science fiction. They did it in Jordan, Lebanon, and Kuwait, so why wouldn't they do it here?'
Cohen also addressed the call by Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir to dismantle the Palestinian Authority, criticizing the cabinet for failing to make a decision on the matter. According to him, ahead of the upcoming elections, ministers opposing the move must be held accountable.
Meanwhile, Minister of Defense Israel Katz addressed the possibility of a 'gun reversal' earlier this week, warning against the consequences of turning weapons against Israel. 'The IDF is preparing like never before for the possibility of a gun reversal. If anyone dares to point a weapon at us, what we did in Gaza and Lebanon will reach the West Bank. We will not handle this with tweezers, but with a comprehensive campaign.'
Alongside the warning, the Defense Minister clarified that the current security situation in the West Bank differs from the past: 'The security situation in the West Bank right now is better than it has been in the last 30 years,' noting that the IDF continues to prepare for all baseline scenarios to respond to any security developments.
