The Israel Football Association has decided to file an official complaint with UEFA against the Football Association of Ireland following a series of contentious incidents surrounding their Nations League matches. According to reports in the Irish media, the complaint centers on remarks made by Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson prior to the fixtures.

Ahead of the encounters, Hallgrimsson stated, We are not playing with genocide, we are playing against genocide. We are playing against Israel, not with it. The Israeli association strongly condemned the comments at the time, calling them pathetic and issuing a sharp response criticizing the remarks as ignorance and hypocrisy.

The formal complaint will also address the conduct of the Irish players during the playing of the Israeli national anthem, when they lowered their heads and avoided handshakes. Furthermore, the submission covers the treatment of Israeli journalists during a press conference that was abruptly halted following heated verbal exchanges.

Meanwhile, UEFA is reviewing allegations of racist chanting by Israeli fans during the matches, claims that the Israeli association has firmly rejected. The Football Association of Ireland stated that its review of the international window is ongoing and declined further comment.
