Israel Revokes Diplomatic Immunities for Dutch Representatives in Ramallah
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar ordered Dutch diplomats in Ramallah to return their diplomatic credentials within seven days following trade bans on Judea, Samaria, and the Golan Heights.
Following hostile measures by the Dutch government against Israel and the implementation of a decree banning trade with Judea and Samaria, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar instructed the Dutch embassy in Israel that diplomats operating in Ramallah must return their Israeli-issued diplomatic credentials within seven days.
After this period, immunities and rights granted by Israel will finally expire. The Foreign Ministry clarified that if the Netherlands wishes to represent its interests before the Palestinians, it must do so exclusively from within Palestinian Authority territory rather than sovereign Israeli territory.
This step follows a decision last month expelling the Dutch representation from the international support center for Gaza operating in Kiryat Gat. Jerusalem emphasized that Israel will take decisive countermeasures against any hostile attempts, warning that countries acting unilaterally will lose regional relevance.
Furthermore, Israel criticized the Amsterdam government for failing to combat rising antisemitism and incitement on Dutch streets, stating that official anti-Israel policies effectively fuel such hostility.
