Maccabi Tel Aviv's efforts to strengthen the squad continue. Dutch media report that the "Yellows" submitted an offer for the Belgian winger, Thibaud Verlinden, but his club, Go Ahead Eagles, rejected the initial proposal. Despite this, talks are still ongoing between the parties in an attempt to reach an agreement.

According to the report on the voetbalfocus website, the Israeli Cup holder is interested in signing Verlinden on loan, with the deal potentially including a purchase option that could become mandatory depending on the conditions set between the clubs. Go Ahead Eagles were not convinced by the first offer and decided to reject it, but at this stage, they have not closed the door on the player's move to Israel.

One of the factors that may help Maccabi Tel Aviv is the desire of Verlinden himself. According to the report, the Belgian winger wants to move to Israel and play in the yellow uniform, so the two clubs are expected to continue discussing a framework that will allow the deal. However, there is no agreement yet, and a new offer will need to be one that is also acceptable to Go Ahead Eagles.

The 26-year-old Verlinden is under contract with Go Ahead Eagles until the summer of 2029, a contract that gives the Dutch club a strong position in the negotiations. The Belgian, who plays mainly on the left wing, became known during his time at Beerschot, to which he returned in the summer of 2023 after impressing on loan. In total, he recorded 32 appearances for the Antwerp club, in which he scored 14 goals and provided three assists.

Verlinden also has a background in the Club Brugge youth academy, and he played for the reserve team Club NXT, but did not manage to break into the senior team. At the international level, he represented Belgium's youth national teams, but has not yet received a call-up to the senior national team.
