Katy Perry found herself trapped inside a giant inflatable water bottle in front of thousands of fans during her performance at the Isle of MTV Malta on Wednesday, after a crowd-surfing stunt took an unexpected turn. While performing "I Kissed a Girl," Perry entered a bottle that was passed over the crowd, but instead of leading her toward the giant straw placed near the stage, the fans carried her deep into the audience.

"Bring me to that straw! Well, keep going! Go back to the stage! Oh my God!" Perry shouted, desperately trying to direct the crowd with her hands while remaining locked inside the inflatable.

Eventually, Perry was returned to the stage, and she continued the performance without further drama. "Thanks for bringing me back," she told the fans after finishing the song—a fitting remark for someone who had just been rescued from a giant prop.

This is not her first stage malfunction in recent times. During the "Lifetimes" tour last summer, Perry nearly fell from a flying rig at a show in San Francisco: while performing "Roar" atop a giant butterfly, the mechanism suddenly failed. Footage from the event captures screams from the crowd and clear panic on Perry's face. She recovered quickly, however, and even laughed about the incident on social media afterward.

Later, she also showcased the less glamorous side of her seven-month tour. In August 2025, the 41-year-old singer uploaded a photo of her bloody and scraped knees, the result of intense choreography.

"It was a knee-slide moment that usually makes the audience go 'ahhh,' and it just made me go 'arrr,'" she wrote.
