"They have everything they could ask for, except this": The pain behind the Beckhams' second honeymoon
While the couple returned to the luxury hotel where they fell in love 29 years ago to rekindle their romance, the rift with their eldest son continues to take its toll. A source tells the "Daily Mirror" that David and Victoria Beckham are recovering from a painful period, but also reveals an unexpected side to the family crisis.

David and Victoria Beckham have flown for a second honeymoon to Portofino, the place they have been returning to since the romantic vacation that exposed their relationship to the public in 1997. However, this year, while there is no sign of reconciliation with their 27-year-old son Brooklyn, Victoria arrived for the dream vacation while still picking up the pieces after her eldest son broke her heart.
A source told the Daily Mirror that everyone, including David, was very worried about Victoria, but she is starting to feel better. This vacation was intended as a second honeymoon for the couple to enjoy their time together. It took a lot for them to be able to laugh together again after the whole saga with Brooklyn.
David (51, who has Jewish roots) and Victoria (52) first flew to this sought-after Italian destination before the world even knew they were dating. Almost three decades later, the couple returned to the same luxury hotel, Splendido, which hangs on a mountainside overlooking the bay of Portofino. The former footballer shared a video of Victoria at the hotel, writing: "29 years ago we arrived in Portofino, to this hotel, before anyone knew we were dating — and here we are again."
However, the attempt to leave the pain surrounding Brooklyn behind and soak up the Italian sun is not simple. The rift is becoming more painful, especially since Brooklyn covered a tattoo previously dedicated to his mother ("mama's boy") with a bouquet of flowers that his wife, Nicola Peltz, held at their wedding. That wedding sparked a long and public conflict, during which the son made unequivocal statements about his family.
While Victoria and David were vacationing in the Mediterranean, Brooklyn and 31-year-old Nicola were relaxing on the yacht of his godfather, Sir Elton John, on the French Riviera. Reportedly, Brooklyn has requested that his parents contact him only through his lawyers.
"At the moment they are just waiting patiently, and hoping that if they leave the door open, he will eventually return to them," the source said. Yet, the bleak situation has one positive outcome: "Strangely, it brought them closer, something no one could have expected. It's almost as if they fell in love again and returned to a time when things were simpler. The vacation was emotional and a sharp reminder of who they were before fame took over their lives and before they had children. It was a beautiful, yet sad reminder. Because they have everything they could ask for, but Brooklyn is not by their side."
Alongside this, the couple spent part of their Italian vacation with their 15-year-old daughter, Harper, who was documented eating ice cream while her parents enjoyed wine and Aperol Spritz. Trying to find comfort?
