Mark Zuckerberg is expanding his real estate portfolio, adding a castle in Ireland to it. The Guardian reported that the CEO of Meta and his wife, Priscilla Chan, purchased a Gothic-style estate in County Waterford that comes with a 1,780-dunam plot of land. The house is intended to be used by the family during visits to the country.

"Mark and his family are excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending more time in Ireland, where Meta's international headquarters is located," a company spokesperson said.

The price of the deal was not disclosed, but according to The Irish Times, the property is worth 20-30 million euros — about 10% of the value of Zuckerberg's yacht. The castle, which sits on a riverbank and is surrounded by gardens, was built in 1830 and was bought and renovated 25 years ago by Michael Allen-Buckley, one of the founders of the London investment firm RAB Capital, and his wife, Giancarla.

"We are leaving our home after 25 years, and we are happy for the opportunity we had to save and preserve the castle," the couple said. "We are pleased that Mark and his family intend to continue our work and invest in the maintenance and preservation of the property and the estate."

The castle has 11 bedrooms, four more rooms on the upper floors, a library, and a dining room. It is about a two-hour drive from Dublin, where Meta's headquarters in the country is located. Zuckerberg and his wife own over 5,000 dunams in Hawaii, and their plans for the land have sparked public opposition on the island. They also own a home in Palo Alto, California, which serves as the family's primary residence. Last March, Zuckerberg purchased a home in a prestigious neighborhood in Florida, not far from Jeff Bezos, for 170 million dollars.
