"He had great miracles": Brother of man wounded in Auja attack reveals details
"He is currently recovering": The brother of the man wounded in the stabbing attack in Auja spoke to 103fm about his condition and the moments leading up to the incident. Following an extensive manhunt by the IDF, the 16-year-old terrorist was captured in the Jericho area.
Yossi Hanania, the brother of Elhanan Hanania, who was wounded this morning (Sunday) in a stabbing attack in the village of Auja, spoke with Ron Kofman and Aryeh Eldad on 103fm radio regarding the incident.
"He is currently recovering," Yossi said. "He received three deep and painful stab wounds, and he also has cuts on his hands. He is currently being treated at Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Thank God, he experienced great miracles."
He added: "This is Highway 90, the direct route to Tiberias and Beit She'an. Auja is on this road; I know it well and drive on it myself. We are a large family and travel there quite often—we are usually hosted quite nicely, and there were other Jews with him there who were shopping."
"He was celebrating his wedding anniversary with his wife, and they went on vacation. He is an IDF soldier, and they were on leave together with the children," he shared in conclusion. "On this trip, he was not armed."
As previously reported, IDF and police forces arrived this morning at the village of Auja in the Jordan Valley following a report of a stabbing victim. A 24-year-old man in moderate condition was found at the scene, treated by Magen David Adom (MDA), and evacuated to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem.
The terrorist is a 16-year-old teenager, a resident of Jericho. The IDF Spokesperson stated:
"Following a joint manhunt by security forces, IDF troops arrested the suspect responsible for the stabbing attack in the Auja area. The arrest was made possible through intelligence and operational efforts by the IDF and Shin Bet. Security forces will continue to act against any terrorist who harms or attempts to harm the citizens of the State of Israel and IDF soldiers. The suspect has been transferred for further investigation."
The attack took place around 09:00, after the young man, who was traveling with his family, stopped next to a shopping center on Highway 90. Police investigation reveals that as he was returning to his vehicle, the terrorist attacked him from behind, stabbing him several times in the shoulder. The terrorist then fled, likely into the village. Police from the Jordan Valley station and forensic experts from the Judea and Samaria District arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and seized the knife suspected of being used in the attack.
MDA paramedic Gal Shani stated: "We met with the wounded man; he was fully conscious and suffering from a stab wound in his upper body. We provided medical treatment and evacuated him in an intensive care ambulance to the hospital. His condition is moderate, and he remains fully conscious."
