IDF: Mysterious Object in Northern Airspace Likely a Floating Balloon
The IDF announced that an unidentified object that entered northern airspace over the weekend was likely a balloon or floating device, ruling out a hostile drone.
Following an IDF investigation, the military announced Tuesday that an unidentified object that entered northern airspace over the weekend was likely a hot air balloon or floating device.
"At this stage, its origin or purpose cannot be definitively determined, though it is not a drone or UAV and may be an innocuous object drifted into Israeli territory," the IDF stated. Numerous forces were scrambled to numerous northern communities to rule out hostile infiltration.
Air force surveillance tracked the object while ground forces searched the area. The IDF emphasized that no changes have been made to Home Front Command guidelines and searches continue.
