IDF Deploys Reinforcements in Hebron Ahead of Chayei Sara Shabbat
The IDF has finalized security plans for the upcoming Chayei Sara Shabbat in Hebron, expecting tens of thousands of visitors. Extensive military and police reinforcements are being deployed to secure routes and holy sites.

The Israel Defense Forces have finalized security preparations for the upcoming "Chayei Sara" Shabbat in Hebron, anticipating tens of thousands of visitors. The mass pilgrimage is scheduled to run from Thursday through Saturday night, drawing crowds to the Cave of the Patriarchs, Kiryat Arba, and surrounding areas.
To manage the influx, the IDF is deploying extensive reinforcements across key traffic arteries, particularly Route 35 connecting Kiryat Gat to Hebron, as well as around holy sites and residential neighborhoods. Security forces, operating alongside the Shin Bet, are also increasing counter-terrorism operations within the city to preempt potential threats during the gathering.
Unlike during holidays like Sukkot, the "Ohel Yitzhak" Muslim prayer space within the Cave of the Patriarchs will remain open alongside Jewish areas. Authorities plan to regulate crowd flow to prevent bottlenecks, while thousands of pilgrims are expected to set up a tent encampment starting Thursday.
Operation command falls under the 98th Division, with the Judea Regional Brigade spearheading the tactical deployment. Additional battalions and specialized units are arriving in the area over the coming days to maintain public order.
