The security situation in the West Bank is escalating as the IDF reaches peak alert following a vehicular ramming attack at a checkpoint. In response, the military command has decided to deploy the 98th Division to the area to take over command of the Yehuda and Etzion brigades.
Operational Shift in the West Bank
Until now, a single regular division oversaw all six regional brigades simultaneously. With the deployment of the 98th Division, it will take charge of the southern part of the West Bank, allowing the Central Command to focus its efforts on strengthening forces in the northern sector. This operational adjustment aims to significantly enhance defense layers amid complex challenges, including the olive harvest season, settlement movements, and upcoming holiday prayers.

Crackdown on Terror Infrastructure
Security forces have carried out extensive arrest operations over recent days, dismantling terror cells and detaining individuals inciting violence online. Despite instability, Hamas faces severe operational difficulties in the West Bank due to continuous counterterrorism efforts by the IDF and the Shin Bet. Attempts by regional Hamas leadership to direct attacks are systematically thwarted, and operatives struggle to acquire weaponry amid strict crackdowns and local resistance.
Furthermore, militant factions are losing ground in key strongholds such as Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams, while internal polls indicate low public support for attacks due to fear of heavy military retaliation.
