Indictment Filed in Holon Car Bomb Murder Case

The Tel Aviv District Court has filed an indictment against Ghazi Ashkar, 34, from Jaffa, charging him with the premeditated murder of Mustafa Abu Lassan using an explosive device planted in his vehicle approximately two and a half months ago.

According to the indictment filed by attorney Aviv Bar-Or from the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office, Ashkar and others conspired to kill Abu Lassan. The suspects tracked the victim, attached a tracking device and an explosive bomb to his car, and followed him to a gas station in Holon. When Abu Lassan parked nearby at noon, the perpetrators detonated the device remotely, causing a massive explosion that killed him instantly and severely damaged seven other vehicles, completely destroying two of them.

Following the assassination, Ashkar attempted to obstruct justice by handing over the getaway car to a vehicle dealer and instructing him to destroy the license plates. He faces charges of aggravated murder in conspiracy, conspiracy to commit a crime, altering a vehicle's identity, and obstruction of justice.

Prosecutors have requested that Ashkar be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings. The remand motion emphasizes that the offenses were executed with meticulous planning in a crowded public area near a gas station in broad daylight, posing an extreme and immediate danger to numerous bystanders.
