IDF forces uncovered a massive Hezbollah drone tunnel network and ready-to-use rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, while diplomatic talks over regional control continue.
IDF Discovers Major Hezbollah Drone Depot and Rocket Cache in Southern Lebanon
Months after the reserve commando brigade captured the village of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon, the IDF continues comprehensive sweeps of the area and adjacent wooded terrain, uncovering vast quantities of weaponry. Deep beneath village homes in massive tunnel networks, Hezbollah established a drone base dubbed the "Hezbollah drone Ben Gurion Airport."
Over the past 24 hours, during operations by the reserve paratroopers brigade in the Majdal Zoun and Al-Mansouri areas of western southern Lebanon, combat troops located ready-to-use launchers left behind in the security zone. The IDF assesses these items remained in place prior to the ceasefire agreement taking effect.
Destruction of Underground Infrastructure and 32 Ready Rockets
During ongoing area sweeps, military forces located and destroyed a terror organization position featuring a tunnel shaft alongside operational rocket launchers loaded with 32 projectiles aimed at Israeli territory.
"Hezbollah systematically exploited the dense, rugged terrain to conceal weapons and launchers, severely complicating aerial detection and neutralization," military officials stated.
According to military assessments, weeks and even long months of sustained operations will be required before authorities can definitively rule out the presence of remaining launchers and hidden arsenals.
Diplomatic Friction Over Ali al-Tahar Ridge Control
Meanwhile, Lebanon received a message from the United States indicating that the military posture along the Ali al-Tahar ridge and surrounding areas will remain unchanged for now, with the IDF maintaining its positions and deployment. This was reported by the Lebanese newspaper Nidaa al-Watan, which is affiliated with anti-Hezbollah factions.
The report notes that the question of future control over the ridge is slated to form the core of the eighth round of indirect negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, scheduled for October. Israel's potential transfer of the Ali al-Tahar ridge to the Lebanese Armed Forces or its continued retention will be weighed under American mediation, ensuring Israel maintains its current positions until at least the upcoming diplomatic round.
