While the shopping mall sector as a whole has seen a decline in foot traffic, one prominent location bucked the trend over the summer. According to data from Counteright, which monitors consumer traffic using sensors, visitor numbers at the Seven Stars Mall in Herzliya surged significantly during July and August 2026.

Mall Traffic Trends and Attractions

Across 58 malls monitored nationwide, including 30 in the central region, data shows a 2.6% drop in foot traffic nationwide and a 2.9% drop in the central region compared to the same period in 2025. In stark contrast, the Seven Stars Mall in Herzliya recorded a 13.9% increase in visitors. During some summer weeks, the spike reached up to 20.3%.

The discrepancy was so unusual that the company initially suspected a statistical error or a malfunction in the scanning systems and sensors, said Counteright CEO Eyal Glazer.

Company checks later revealed that the jump was driven by a major tenant mix change and the opening of the Gravity Park attraction complex, which spans roughly 2,000 square meters and includes around 110 arcade machines. Analysts note, however, that these figures measure entries rather than actual sales volumes or spending amounts.

Real Estate and Corporate Updates

In the commercial real estate sector, the meex business tower in Holon—developed by the real estate arm of Hazi Hinam—is welcoming new tenants. The ICON fitness chain, part of Holmes Place, has leased an entire floor spanning approximately 1,460 square meters. The deal is valued at roughly 20 million shekels for a 15-year period. Meanwhile, the infrastructure firm Lesico has also leased two floors in the building.

In the banking sector, Mercantile Bank has launched a new marketing campaign targeting young members of the Haredi community, focusing on business guidance and career entry. The campaign, backed by an investment of about 1 million shekels, features prominent digital creators and influencers.

Additionally, the University of Haifa announced it will award financial grants of 10,000 shekels for undergraduate and 15,000 shekels for graduate students who served in military reserve duty. NTA (Mass Transit System) also announced the appointment of four new board directors, including Sivan Detauker and Gilad Rabinowitz.
