Israel Appoints 2027 Health Basket Committee with 650 Million Budget
Israel appointed the 2027 health basket committee with a 650 million shekel budget to evaluate hundreds of new drugs and medical technologies.

The public committee for expanding the health services basket for 2027 was officially appointed today, Sunday, operating with a budget of 650 million shekels. The committee will evaluate hundreds of new medications and medical technologies, recommending their inclusion based on medical, professional, social, and economic considerations to broaden treatment options for the public.
Health Minister Haim Katz emphasized the importance of a robust public healthcare system that ensures patients receive advanced medical care regardless of their financial capacity. Katz noted that the annual allocation of 650 million shekels strengthens the state's response to its citizens and helps bridge gaps in accessibility to innovative treatments.
Ministry of Health Director General Moshe Bar Siman Tov echoed these sentiments, highlighting that the committee's work directly impacts patients whose quality of life or survival depends on accessing new therapies. He commended the appointed members for taking on this heavy professional and public responsibility, acknowledging the challenging task of balancing numerous medical needs with limited resources.
