Hapoel Petah Tikva Faces Relegation Crisis After Disastrous Start
Hapoel Petah Tikva languishes at the bottom of Israel's Premier League after a dismal start, facing mounting sporting and administrative crises.

Hapoel Petah Tikva is facing a severe crisis after a promising return to Israel's Premier League. Just six months ago, the club celebrated reaching the upper playoff, seemingly cementing its place among the country's elite. However, that peak marked the beginning of a sharp decline under coach Omer Peretz, culminating in a dismal start to the current season.
After nine matchdays, Hapoel Petah Tikva sits at the bottom of the table with only 3 points, eight defeats including a technical loss, and a meager three goals scored. Former club player Beni Kozoshwilli warned that the situation is a recipe for relegation, pointing to a complete squad overhaul during the summer and a poor run of form carried over from the previous campaign.
Adding to the sporting woes, the club was recently handed a 3-0 technical defeat by the Israel Football Association disciplinary tribunal. The sanction followed an administrative error during a match against Maccabi Netanya, where the team mistakenly fielded 12 players in the dying minutes due to a botched substitution sequence.
Despite mounting pressure and calls for change, club management has decided to keep Omer Peretz at the helm for now. The upcoming relegation battle against Hapoel Ramat Gan is widely viewed as a critical juncture for both the coach and the squad, with winter transfer window reinforcements planned to salvage the season.
