Haim Cohen on 'MasterChef': 'It embarrasses me to watch it'
The veteran chef provided an honest glimpse into his busy world and explained why he finds it difficult to watch himself on the Keshet 12 screen, while revealing the truth behind the complex relationships between the show's judges over the years.
In an interview conducted today, Thursday, by Nesli Barda on Keshet 12's morning news, chef Haim Cohen provided an honest and amusing glimpse into his busy life, which currently balances his participation in the new season of 'MasterChef: Dream Team' with the launch of two restaurants on Dizengoff Street 99 in Tel Aviv.
Cohen, who joins this season as a guest chef and mentor, shared that this is the first time he has been able to watch the program almost entirely from the sidelines.
'When I judge, it embarrasses me to see myself, and sometimes I am even angry at myself,' he admitted.
Now that he is released from the judging chair, he offers compliments to his colleagues and compares the relationships between the former judges to a divorced couple: 'When we were young, there was competition and everyone whispered. Today, everyone has their own path and business, and we are very good friends.'
Regarding the professional standard, Cohen notes a leap in the quality of the dishes. Among the contestants who caught his eye, he mentions Jackie Azoulay, who arrived as a shy girl and has since blossomed, and the contestant bearing his name – Haim Cohen – who surprised everyone with his modesty and has become a chef in every sense.
Cohen used the platform to make an unusual appeal to recruit staff for his new culinary projects: 'Whoever wants to work, whoever was laid off from high-tech, MasterChef contestants – we are open to everyone who wants,' he declared. 'The requirements are low: you have a pulse and you have the desire? The rest is on me.'
