Gush Etzion Advances First New Industrial Zone Plan in Over 25 Years
The Civil Administration approved depositing a plan for a new industrial zone in Chaforit, Gush Etzion, marking the first such project in over 25 years to boost local municipal revenues.
The Civil Administration approved this week the deposit of a plan to establish a new industrial zone in Chaforit within Gush Etzion. This marks the first time in over 25 years that a new industrial zone in the bloc has advanced to a significant planning stage.
According to the plan, the industrial zone is expected to include factories, logistics centers, and other uses. The Gush Etzion Regional Council estimates that once the process is completed and the area is established, it will become a significant source of income for the municipality, increasing its ability to invest in municipal services, education, culture, and infrastructure.
The deposit approval is not yet a final authorization for the plan and does not permit construction work to begin. In the next stage, the plan will be deposited for public review, opening a window for submitting objections. Only after the planning process is fully completed can it be brought for final approval and subsequent site development.
Gush Etzion Regional Council head Yaron Rosenthal stated that industrial zones form the economic backbone enabling local authorities to invest in residents' quality of life.
