Google already knows where you've been, now it will also plan your vacation

Planning a vacation abroad has become an exhausting task in recent years, requiring hours of comparisons, reading reviews, and building itineraries. But what if you could offload all this headache to a smart personal assistant? A user who decided to let Google Gemini plan a four-day trip to North Goa in India for him discovered that artificial intelligence is capable of putting together a detailed and personalized itinerary, saving precious time, and finding hidden gems that even veteran travelers didn't know about.

How does it work in practice?

To get started, the traveler entered his budget into Gemini (one hundred thousand rupees), defined a maximum amount for meals and drinks, and asked to focus on specific areas. Gemini not only allocated the budget intelligently but also used Google Maps to analyze traffic, peak hours, photos, and up-to-date restaurant reviews. The tool built a visual daily itinerary adapted to the weather, suggested recommended visiting hours for attractions, and even planned a relaxing day at a beach that is not crowded with visitors.

The real magic happened at the refinement stage. The user asked to filter out restaurants with a rating lower than 4.2 and not to repeat places he had already visited in the past. To his surprise, without him providing a list, Gemini pulled his travel history from Google Maps and automatically filtered out all the places he was familiar with. In addition, thanks to the connection to Google apps and Workspace, the bot was able to identify the details of the pre-booked accommodation and recommend excellent breakfast spots located right nearby.

The small details that make a big difference

Beyond food, Gemini upgraded the trip with recommendations for diverse activities that fit exactly within the budget. It suggested attractions such as water sports, kayaking in the mangroves, and a visit to a historic spice farm – a place the traveler, despite having visited Goa several times in the past, had never heard of. All this information is saved directly in the mobile app, allowing quick and convenient access to the full plan at any given moment during the trip itself, without the need for further searches.

Ultimately, using Gemini proves that artificial intelligence can completely change the way we plan short trips. Although for large international trips it is still recommended to combine it with independent research, for weekends or focused vacations it is a powerful tool. If you know how to formulate precise and detailed prompts, you too can save hours of work and enjoy a dream vacation that is personalized.
