Yair Golan, leader of The Democrats and former deputy chief of staff, urged opposition parties to commit to excluding ultra-Orthodox parties from the next government. Speaking at the International Counter-Terrorism Conference at Reichman University, Golan sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the military draft crisis and security management in the Gaza Strip.

Opposition to Ultra-Orthodox Coalition Partners

Addressing proposals regarding coalition dynamics, Golan argued that barring draft evaders from cabinet seats does not go far enough. He called for a blanket commitment from potential coalition partners to form a government without ultra-Orthodox factions.

I call on all my future coalition partners to declare today: We will not sit with the ultra-Orthodox in the next government. Period. Simple and clear.

Criticism of Gaza Policy and Regional Standing

Golan also lambasted the government's military strategy, claiming that Hamas is actively rebuilding its infrastructure and tunneling capabilities in Gaza. Furthermore, he expressed confidence that replacing the current government would rapidly restore Israel's standing among international allies and regional partners, including Egypt, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.
