China-Iran: Tehran arms itself with mobile systems
Against the backdrop of escalation between the USA and Iran, Reuters revealed this week that Tehran is expected to receive the first shipment of hundreds of Chinese-made mobile air defense missile launchers within weeks.
The contract, worth $60–70 million, includes the purchase of 300 to 400 MANPADS systems (QW-12 and FN-16 models) via the Hong Kong-based Zhongqing Baoshang International Investment. Experts emphasize that mobile systems are crucial for protecting strategic facilities, as they are harder to target than fixed batteries.
China and Pakistan, which may have served as a transit route, have denied involvement. Reports also suggest Iran is nearing an agreement for Chinese anti-ship cruise missiles.
USA: Trump's blow to China before the Xi Jinping meeting
The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has banned the import of new foreign-made humanoid robots and power converters, citing national security. Beijing has accused Washington of protectionism.
The move comes weeks before Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the US. China currently controls about 85% of the global humanoid robot market, with companies like Unitree and AGIBOT leading the sector. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr clarified that the ban applies only to new imports, not existing devices.
Turkey: Targeted moves against the opposition
Turkish authorities continue their crackdown on the opposition. On Wednesday, Uskudar Mayor Sinem Dedetas and five others were arrested over alleged building permit irregularities. The opposition claims the investigation is politically motivated.
This follows a political drama within the Republican People's Party (CHP), where ousted leader Ozgur Ozel announced the formation of "The New Party" after a court order removed him from his post. Ninety other CHP parliament members have joined him in the new party.
