Bitcoin has taken another step toward the heart of the global financial system as five banks and financial institutions in Germany launched crypto trading directly through their standard banking apps, with over 230 additional banks expressing interest in joining.

Banking Apps Integration

The service is powered by DekaBank, the securities arm of one of the country's prominent retail banking networks. Instead of opening a separate crypto exchange account, customers of participating banks can buy and sell Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Polygon directly from their familiar banking application.

The transaction fee stands at 99 cents, plus a price spread between the buying and selling prices. However, the service does not offer full operational freedom like independent crypto exchanges: withdrawing coins is restricted to pre-approved authorized wallets. This model highlights the balance traditional banks try to strike between accessibility, regulation, and security.

Institutional Custody and Global Expansion

Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank is preparing to expand its digital asset custody operations. Reports indicate the bank is set to launch crypto custody services in Germany and later expand to financial hubs in Asia during 2027. The service will initially support Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Simultaneously, AnchorWatch launched licensed Bitcoin custody services in Nevada, USA, offering fixed monthly pricing and up to $370 million in insurance per client. In addition, Circle plans to enter roughly 40 emerging markets, as stablecoin demand continues to surge across Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

The overall picture points to a profound shift: banks are no longer just tracking the crypto market, but actively building services around it.
