Gaza reports: Militia cooperating with Israel attempted to target senior Hamas official, IDF Air Force intervened

Reports from Gaza indicate that a militia operating in cooperation with the IDF entered Gaza City on motorcycles and attempted to kidnap a senior member of the terrorist organization. The IDF confirmed it struck several targets in the Strip to neutralize threats to security forces, stating that there were no casualties among Israeli troops.
A security source told the Qatari channel Al-Araby that the operation was an assassination attempt targeting a senior official in the Hamas internal security apparatus. According to the source, the armed militia arrived in the Al-Katiba area in the west of the city and opened fire on two individuals. At least 12 strikes and intense explosions were reported in the western part of Gaza City.
While some reports suggested the objective was a kidnapping, the security source maintained that the incident was an assassination attempt. The IDF confirmed the strikes but did not address claims regarding the militia's involvement:
"The IDF struck a number of targets in the Gaza Strip area a short while ago with the aim of removing threats to security forces."
The source further claimed that during the operation, the IDF struck a vehicle in the area to provide cover for the militia members. Other reports from Gaza claim that the militia members arrived on motorcycles, came under heavy fire, and that the Air Force intervened to facilitate their retreat. The sounds of the explosions were also heard in the Gaza Envelope. At this stage, various versions regarding the circumstances and purpose of the operation continue to circulate.
