Ferran Torres and Barcelona: Transfer Rumors and Updates
Spain's World Cup victory has boosted the market value of its players. Ferran Torres is linked to a move to PSG, while Barcelona has inquired about signing defender Aymeric Laporte.
The Spanish national team's victory in the World Cup has significantly raised the status of several of its players on the transfer market, and two of them are now at the center of rumors surrounding Barcelona: Ferran Torres, who is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain, and Aymeric Laporte, whom the Catalans inquired about the possibility of signing.
In France, it is claimed that Ferran Torres is interested in leaving Barcelona and continuing his career under Luis Enrique at PSG. According to "Foot Mercato," the forward has already made it clear to his entourage that he is open to a move to Paris, and talks between the clubs may begin during the coming week.
However, Barcelona emphasizes that they have not received any official notification at this stage from the player or his representatives regarding a desire to leave. From the club's perspective, the intention is actually to extend Torres's contract, but the issue is expected to be discussed only in September, after the closing of the transfer window.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has already addressed the Spaniard's future and clarified that he is still in his plans:
"I spoke with him during the World Cup, but now the players are on vacation and I respect that. He is our player and showed in many matches last season how important he can be for us. That is what we want."
At the same time, the Catalans explored the possibility of signing Laporte. According to "AS," sporting director Deco approached Athletic Bilbao and inquired about the status of the 32-year-old defender, who was also closely monitored during the World Cup thanks to his successful partnership with Pau Cubarsí in the center of Spain's defense.
The answer Barcelona received was unequivocal: Laporte's release clause stands at 80 million euros. The defender, who returned to Bilbao in the summer of 2025 after ending his time at Al-Nassr, holds a contract for two more years with the Basque club, which does not intend to make his departure easy.
Real Madrid was also mentioned in the past as a candidate to sign Laporte, but according to the report, no real negotiations took place. Now Barcelona is the one that checked the possibility, but Bilbao's high demand is expected to make any move almost impossible at this stage.
