Ferran Torres continues to maintain ambiguity regarding his future at Barcelona, but is sending a clear message to the club's management. In an interview given in the USA during the Catalans' tour, the 26-year-old striker clarified that progress regarding a contract extension depends first and foremost on the treatment he receives from management members.
"Barcelona needs to show that it wants me. They are invited to come and negotiate, and in the end, everything will be settled in talks," said Torres, who holds a valid contract with the club and remains calm regarding his status.
However, during the interview, the Spaniard was also asked about reports regarding a possible move to European giants, led by Paris Saint-Germain, and he did not hide the compliment: "Every time teams of such magnitude show interest in you, it is a positive thing."
Nevertheless, Torres emphasizes that his primary commitment remains to Barcelona and explained that the existing contract gives him a safety net and peace of mind: "I have a contract with Barca. It is true that in football you cannot know what will happen, but the good part is that thanks to the existing contract I can wait and make the decisions myself."
Torres' contract expires next year, and due to the financial situation, it is claimed that Barcelona will find it difficult to offer him a significant salary upgrade, and official talks may be delayed until after the closing of the transfer window in September.
