Eyal Golan makes a financial contribution to a football team: "Good luck"
Despite investments and new signings, Beitar Jerusalem has been eliminated from European competitions. The club is now focusing on a spiritual project: writing a Torah scroll in memory of deceased fans. Donors include Almog Cohen, Omer Atzili, Dudu Aharon, and Eyal Golan.
On the professional front, Beitar Jerusalem recently experienced severe disappointment following its elimination from European competition. This occurred despite the atmosphere of renewal surrounding the club after the appointment of Almog Cohen as head coach and the signing of several excellent new players. These moves were made against the backdrop of owner Barak Abramov's promises of extensive financial investment to strengthen the team, provided that sufficient season tickets were sold during the pre-season.
However, at Beitar, faith and spiritual life are inseparable from the club's identity, and preparations for the new season are accompanied by a deeply religious spirit. A moving project is currently underway in the capital to create a Beitar Torah scroll dedicated to the memory of the team's fans who have passed away.
The project is being carried out in close cooperation with the club, with many players and officials already contributing from their own pockets. They were joined by two of the most famous fans of the yellow-and-blacks, successful singers Eyal Golan and Dudu Aharon.
In a special Instagram post promoting the initiative, the public was invited to participate:
"Take part and receive a certificate. Join our moving project, in cooperation with the club: a Beitar Torah scroll featuring the names of deceased fans."
The post explains that the holy Torah scroll will accompany the team on their trips to matches in Europe, while at other times it will be kept in a synagogue near Teddy Stadium, making it accessible to fans and players. Organizers noted that anyone wishing to submit names of the deceased to be included in the scroll may do so via the dedicated website.
The list of donors who have participated in the project so far includes team players Omer Atzili, Yarden Shua, Yarden Cohen, and Ziv Ben Shimol, along with coach Almog Cohen and singer Dudu Aharon. Eyal Golan also made a significant contribution to the project.
In the special certificate of appreciation received by Golan and published on social media, a verse was dedicated to him. "Happy is the portion of Eyal Golan," the certificate stated, citing the Book of Genesis (14:6): "And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness." The blessing concluded: "May it be the will that the merit of this commandment stand for him and his household in blessing, protection, success, health, abundance, and salvation in all the works of his hands."
