Extreme weather across Europe coincides with a week when many Israelis are traveling abroad, while light rain and shifting temperatures are expected in Israel.

The highest precipitation amounts over the past two days in Israel were recorded in the northern Golan Heights, with 10 mm in Buq'ata, and 7 mm on Mount Carmel near Nahal Mearot. On Friday, during the first half of the day, significant rainfall is expected in the north, particularly in the Western and Upper Galilee as well as the Carmel Coast, where 10 to 20 mm could fall.

Temperatures will slightly rise in the center and south of the country on Friday, though remaining slightly below seasonal averages. Saturday will see a slight warming trend with possible morning drizzle in the north, continuing into Sunday. However, temperatures will drop slightly on Monday, and the Meteorological Service forecasts a chance of rain returning on Tuesday, this time in the south.

Meanwhile, extreme weather is striking various parts of the Mediterranean basin and beyond. Alongside unusually high temperatures in Western Europe—exceeding 30 degrees Celsius in Spain and France—heavy rains have caused severe flooding. In Barcelona, severe floods occurred after 106 mm of rain fell within 24 hours, with 90 mm of that pouring down in just half an hour. In Crete, a popular holiday destination for Israelis, coastal areas brace for 250 to 300 mm of rain with flood risks.

Southern France is also experiencing severe storms, with over 500 mm expected within two days. In the French village of Pomas, a tornado injured 39 people and damaged over 300 homes, with residents reporting half the village is destroyed. Severe flooding has also impacted Thailand, where streets in Bangkok have been submerged in recent days.
