Economists at the investment bank UBS have conducted a market review, providing an analysis of inflation data in the USA and the state of the bond market.

Analyzing oil prices, inflation, and interest rates in the USA, the experts note: "The recent rise in oil prices has reignited concerns about accelerating inflation and policy tightening by central banks."

They further add: "However, despite these risks, recent inflation data in the USA continues to point to a moderation of underlying price pressures. These data reinforce our assessment that the Federal Reserve will refrain from raising interest rates this year. Inflation is expected to moderate further as the year progresses."

Regarding the labor market and yields to maturity, the bank emphasizes: "The labor market does not constitute a source of inflationary pressure. High initial yields to maturity create an attractive entry point."

Mark Haefele, Chief Investment Officer at UBS Global Wealth Management, notes:

"We continue to see high-quality bonds as both a source of income and a tool for hedging an investment portfolio, and we prefer bonds with short to medium duration. Investors looking for a more diversified approach to income can also consider selective exposure to high-yield bonds and credit in emerging markets, as well as equity income strategies."
