A good sandwich, a freshly baked pastry or a rustic bruschetta paired with a cup of coffee can instantly brighten any day. Artisanal bakeries have become major culinary destinations across Israel, from Wild Bread in Kfar Daniel to Mingus and Sally in Haifa, and Luma in Zichron Yaakov. Now, Zichron Yaakov welcomes a charming new addition named after its founders: Erez & Liat.

Located on the town's bustling pedestrian mall, the bakery and café is a spacious, welcoming haven that accommodates families with strollers and pets. The interior features local art on the walls and the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked sourdough bread. Outside, a pleasant terrace overlooks the lively promenade.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a large wooden cabinet displaying neatly arranged loaves of sourdough, whole-wheat spelt, rye, olive bread, and heritage loaves made from ancient grains, priced at 29 shekels a large loaf. The counter features hearty sandwiches priced at 38 shekels each, including egg salad without mayonnaise, vegan roasted vegetable wraps with pesto, and options with guacamole, cherry tomatoes, and a hint of chili.

The menu also includes inventive bruschettas topped with caramelized onions, mushrooms, and confit tomatoes for 29 shekels, alongside tasting platters with artisan breads and house-made spreads for 50 shekels. Sweet and savory pastries, such as sourdough bread pudding and vegan carrot cake, complete the offerings. Erez manages the baking area behind the scenes, while Liat welcomes guests in the front, bringing together their backgrounds in architecture and social work to finally open a permanent home for their craft.
