In Serbia they suggested: Red Star should appoint Ran Kozuch
After he caused a sensation in the Champions League qualifiers, the coach's name came up: "Like in the case of Barak Bakhar." Dejan Stankovic lost his composure and is expected to be fired, an emergency meeting has already been scheduled by the board of directors.
After Hapoel Be'er Sheva stunned Red Star Belgrade and eliminated them from the Champions League qualifiers, in Serbia they suggested the club appoint Ran Kozuch as coach - exactly as happened with Barak Bakhar, after he eliminated the same opponent in the summer of 2022. In both cases, the dismissed coach was Dejan Stankovic.
Stankovic is one of the most successful and respected coaches in the history of Red Star, but he failed in all four of his attempts to qualify for the Champions League. Twice in four years it was an Israeli opponent: Maccabi Haifa under Bakhar in the summer of 2022, and now Hapoel Be'er Sheva under Kozuch.
On the "Sportska" website, they admitted that the Serb suffered a complete knockout from the Israeli and suggested:
"Red Star would have won 5:0 if Kozuch had coached them and Stankovic had been on the other side, this is a signal enough for the club to make a move similar to the one that happened in the summer of 2023. Kozuch in the role of the new Bakhar."
About Kozuch himself, they wrote: "This is a coach who entered deep waters relatively recently and attracted attention in Israeli football in a short time, Red Star should pay attention to him. Bakhar also 'recommended' himself against Red Star and was appointed a year later, in Israel they continue to produce talented coaches."
Meanwhile, according to reports in the media, Stankovic is expected to end his tenure at the club. The coach lost his composure and was sent off while the score was 0:0, after which the southerners scored twice and completed a stunning 3:0 on aggregate. After the game, the coach did not arrive at the press conference.
In Serbia, they were very angry: "The club's behavior towards the journalists who waited in vain for statements from the players and the coach is unacceptable." It was announced that the Red Star board of directors scheduled an emergency meeting for today at noon, where they are expected to announce the dismissal of Stankovic. Will Kozuch be on the agenda?
