Within minutes: two snake bite incidents, man in serious condition
A man aged about 60 was hospitalized in serious condition following a snake bite in Kafr Qara. Minutes later, an 18-year-old was evacuated in moderate condition after a similar incident.
Two reports of separate snake bite incidents were received this evening (Friday) at the MADA 101 emergency center. In Kafr Qara, a 60-year-old man was bitten. MADA medics and paramedics provided treatment at the village's local clinic before evacuating him to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in serious condition.
Minutes later, in a kibbutz within the Mateh Asher Regional Council, an 18-year-old was bitten. MADA teams provided medical care, and he was evacuated in moderate condition to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. The young man was apparently bitten near his home.
These incidents join a series of cases from last week, when three bites were recorded across the country in a single day: a 14-year-old girl in Bnei Darom, a 48-year-old woman in Rishon LeZion, and a 26-year-old woman in the Galilee.
"I was walking on the road in the moshav on my way to a friend's house and didn't pay attention to where I was stepping," said Hoshen Brown, the 14-year-old bitten in Bnei Darom. "Suddenly I felt a prick in my leg and got scared. When I turned around, I saw a snake. I started running toward my friend's house nearby."
"After several tests, they decided to administer anti-venom for viper venom," added Hoshen. "They explained that I shouldn't have run and needed to stay calm, which was a bit difficult for me."
